Maintaining this website with all the stuff can be, well, challenging.

As a new boat owner who reluctantly races, I gotta admit that maintaing perspective is my most difficult obstacle. If I did poorly and can pinpoint all those places where I did so, its tough to shake it off. Its one of those situations where success has many fathers and defeat is an orphan syndrome.

2nd in Division E. For the crew who had never been on a boat before June, we are totally Jazzed. Not taking first was the fault of Gerry Henry who blew the start and went to S when he should have gone to A. I giuess we all ave something to learn. Look for the EYC Jam regatta to be a part of a CSA series in 2010.

For a person of the Jewish Faith, (like Gerry Henry Thumper), the Hamstring was one of those things we just never mentioned we had in our bodies.

Pete O'dell and Gerry Henry Thumper sailed well in tough double-handed conditions on Friday Night. We didn't score wel but we figured we won a great spot in our collective memory in boat handleing. On Saturday my unseasoned trainee crew decided to bail on me so I sailed on La Vida. (This bailing out thing at the last minute tends to be un rewarded when conditions are perfect and they drop a notch for the up and comers.)

La Vida is in my class and a competitor so I figured if I go with him I can get in his head and find the weak point.

I found the weak point......me. While fending the boat off the dock Gerry Henry Thumper sustained muscle injuries to his back and side that required him the next day to go the the Fairview ParK hospital ER, just about the time the Jam B was starting. At that point I'm not sure what hurt more.

Had we raced, we had a realistic shot at 3rd in Jam B.

On to the Princess Pat.

When you are the slowest boat in the fleet, you suddenly become very challenged. No where to go but up and any time you cross the finish line ahead of any other boat is certainly cause for celebratrion. Not that I've experienced that yet. But just think of all the possibilities. In my mind no one is safe we me stalking you. Just look behind you, I'll be there.

June 20, AM. Rain, clouds, Weather meteorolgists predicting doom for the day. With so much racing scheduled, who will be keft standing. At least its an opportunity to wear that fancy foul weather gear you got for Christmas.
